CTF Dodgeball Game Setup and Rules

 

 

Equipment used:

  • Basketball Hoops
  • Cones
  • Dodgeballs
  • Football for flag
  • Pennies

 

Safety Concerns:

  • Ball should be thrown below the head
  • People running into each other

 

Rules and Regulations:

  • Objective
  • Take the other team’s flag back to your side
  • Or
  • Knock everyone on the other team out
Basic description
  • Throw balls at your opponents to knock them out and take their flag to score
Team Size
  • Teams are divided evenly
  • One team may have 1 extra person if the number of people is odd
How to get knocked out
  • Hit with ball thrown by other team
  • Player is not knocked out if they deflect a ball thrown by an opponent with a ball they are holding
Tagged by enemy while on their side Enemy catches your thrown ballHow to come back into the game
  • Ball thrown into basket
  • Teammate tags you while you are in jail
  • While in jail, you catch a ball thrown by your teammate
Flag rules
  • If a player is carrying the flag and is tagged/hit with a ball, flag returns to it’s starting location
  • Player is allowed to throw opponent’s flag to their side
  • If flag is caught, point scored
  • If flag is dropped, return it to starting location

 

System of Officiating the Game:

  • Players referee themselves and ask the referee if there is a dispute
  • Referee is responsible for
  • Watching for players that are hit by balls
  • Watching for players that are tagged
  • Watching for players in jail that catch balls
  • Watching for players in jail that are tagged
  • Watching to see if thrown ball goes in basket
  • Watching to see if flag crosses center line
If referee did not see the play in question, both players are knocked out Referee can stop play when the flag is dropped, scored, or if a player is injured

 

 

Signs and Signals:

  • Referee has a whistle to blow to stop play

 

Method of keeping score:

  • Point is scored if entire team is knocked out or flag is scored
  • First to 3 points wins

 

Rating scale for referee:

  • Rated on the number of plays he does not see.
